I was thinking about how much of my early skincare came from my mother, some of it gold and some of it wildly outdated. She was devoted to a good night cream and never left the house without lipstick, which I love. But she also believed a tan looked healthy, that expensive always meant better, and that if a product was not tingling it was not working. It took me years to unlearn the tingling one especially. So I am curious, what did you inherit, both the wisdom worth keeping and the myths you had to actively let go of? I think there is something sweet about sorting through it, keeping what holds up and gently retiring what does not. And maybe a few of these old beliefs are quietly still running our routines without us noticing.
